Summer Play!

Hello South Austin families!  Summer is finally here! Though we are still not back to normal, we hope we are on the right track for some normalcy. Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we are all having to work through these changing and difficult times.
 
I am happy to announce that the Board has decided that we will open baseball activities for South Austin this Summer.  Though it will not be a regular season, we are opening our fields to allow our kids to get back outdoors and resume playing baseball. 
 
Re-Opening Process:
Phase 1: Effective Monday, June 8, 2020, our facilities will be open for players and coaches only for baseball activities.  If all goes well during this phase we will then decide as a Board to move to Phase 2.  
 
Phase 2: Limited spectators who follow best practices of social distancing. Bleachers and concessions opening per the guidelines we have listed.  Sandlot games, scrimmages, and possible games may occur during this phase but only with approved guidelines.  We will observe Phase 1 and make any adjustments that may be needed once we begin activities as well.
 
Please review the information in this post along with the new operating procedures for you to make your informed decision.  Our procedures are in-line with the State of Texas, the City of Austin, and Little League International. We understand that not all families will want to or are able to participate in the Summer activities. 
 
Registrations
Registration is open on our website in order to organize those that are wanting to participate.  We are also requiring all players/families to read and acknowledge the South Austin Baseball Waiver in order to participate.  You will be required to acknowledge acceptance of the waiver as part of the registration process. Once we know the players that are playing, we will work to group those players and coaches together to begin activities at Weber Field.  The fee for the Summer session is $50. This is to cover the operating and equipment costs that we have. The fee will be taken from what you already paid for the Spring season. There will not be new jerseys or hats for the Summer. Players are encouraged to wear their uniforms from the Spring season or any past season at South Austin.
 
We are asking for your help and patience as we roll out Phase 1.  We want to provide an environment where we can allow the kids to get back outside and play the game they love and enjoy while being as safe as they can.  This will take your help and cooperation to do so.  Please let us know if you want to be a volunteer in the rollout of Phase 1.  
 
Refunds 
The regular Spring season has been canceled.  Due to this, we will be offering league credits or a refund.  This will be the league fees you have paid to date minus the cost of the uniforms and any processing fee that South Austin has been charged.  We will gladly accept your fees or any portion of your fees as a league donation if you are so inclined. 
 
If you are requesting a refund, there may be a delay in processing due to us having to write physical checks in order to do so.  We are recommending families to choose a credit for the Fall but understand if you would like a refund.  Please send your request to paulpurcelltx@gmail.com.
 
Please review the documents and familiarize yourself with the procedures and requirements.  Our goal is to organize the groups and begin practices on June 15th at Weber Field.  We will base the group size on how many coaches and volunteers we have for each group. Prior to the 15th, we will have a meeting to go over the procedures and layout of the complex.
 
Again, thank you all for your patience in this process.  Many people have been working very hard to help us prepare for a re-opening.
